July 1st was a very special day for the Embassy of the Order of Malta to Lithuania, because it was a presentation of the “Prayer book of the Order of Malta” (in Lithuanian language).
“Prayer Book of the Order of Malta” (or “Prayer Guide of the Order of Malta”) is a solid volume (640 pages), which consists most important spiritual texts and prayers of the Catholic Church and the Sovereign Order of Malta: Liturgical calendar of the Order of Malta (biographies of the saints and prayers to them), novenas, litanies, prayers to Our Lady of Philermos, to St. John the Baptist and St. Gerard and many more.
Book also includes a lot of carefully selected texts about the liturgy of the Catholic Church, its Sacraments, Main Solemnities of the Church, Liturgical Calendar, Commandments of God, Blessings of the Lord, Main Solemnities of the Church, piligrimages, common prayers.
Preparation and publishing of the “Prayer book of the Order of Malta” was financed by the Embassy of the Order of Malta.
“Prayer book of the Order of Malta” was highly praised by the Lithuanian Bishops Conference and the highest officials of the Lithuanian Catholic Church.
Chairman of the Bishops Conference of Lithuania Archbishop of Vilnius H.E. Gintaras Grušas (He gave his Imprimatur to the „Prayer Book“) praised the Order of Malta in his foreword to the „Prayer book of the Order of Malta“ with these words: „Maltesers, every day you are doing work of Mercy… Hands of Jesus today are your hands… You fullfill your great Mission in direct connection with the Lord…“
Bishop Auxiliary of Archdiocese Vilnius H.E. Darius Trijonis in his foreword emphasized the importance of the prayer in the everyday life. He wrote: „ Prayer is the way to establish direct conversation with God and learn to listen Him. Prayer helps us to look around and recognize poor and sick people, who need our help and assistance..“
Ambassador of the Order of Malta to Lithuania (and Estonia) H.E. Manfred Ritter Mautner von Markhof in his foreword to the „Prayer book“ emphasized spiritual side of the Order and deep commitment to its main inspiring principles – testify the Faith and service to the suffering.
First copies of the book were given as a precious gift to those, who took solemn Promise and pledge to the Order of Malta on July 2nd, 2022.
