The Ambassador of the Order met with the Speaker of the Lithuanian Seimas, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Kaunas, and foreign Ambassadors

On 15 November 2023, Dr. Cristoph Count Calice, Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta to the Republic of Lithuania, held a meeting with the Speaker of the Seimas of Lithuania, Her Excellency Mrs. Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen.

The meeting was characterized by an open and friendly atmosphere. Her Excellency had recently returned from Rome, where she engaged in discussions with the Grand Chancellor of the Order of Malta.

She announced to the Ambassador her intention to inaugurate and participate in the Order of Malta Relief Organization in Lithuania social awareness campaign “Maltesers Soup”  at the Seimas on 16 November at 12:00 noon.

During their dialogue, Her Excellency emphasized the significance of the Maltesers’ social services, particularly their work with volunteers and the assistance provided to Ukrainian refugees. She expressed her desire to interact with children from vulnerable families who receive care from MOPT’s children’s care centers.

Additionally, Her Excellency showed a keen interest in the prospective establishment of the Order of Malta Baltic Association. She inquired about potential members and the roles this entity would fulfill.

The Speaker of the Seimas extended her gratitude to the Government of the Order of Malta and the Grand Chancellor for the exemplary arrangements for her visit to the Order’s Government in Rome. She was eager to host the Grand Chancellor and the Grand Master of the Order of Malta at the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania.

In the course of his recent visit to Lithuania, the Ambassador also engaged with various dignitaries, including H.E. Kęstutis Kėvalas, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Kaunas; H.E. Bishop Rimantas Norvila, the Vice-Chairman of the Lithuanian Bishops’ Conference and Bishop of Vilkaviškis; as well as the Ambassadors from the United Kingdom, France, Poland, Spain, and Ireland accredited to Lithuania.
